Been a few days
It's been a few days since I started this thing, I guess that means it's time for an update. Ayden is 18 days old nowand almost 9 pounds, and he just gets bigger and more alert every day. It's so amazing to see him grow. I look at my Cayleb, my incredible almost-3-year-old, and then at Ayden and I just can't believe Cayleb was ever this small or that one day Ayden will be that big. It makes you never want to blink for fear of missing something.

And so it begins....
It's been a long time since I've tried keeping a blog, so I'm thinking of this as an experiment.
Ayden Michael was born almost 2 weeks ago - my little Friday the 13th baby. He was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20-1/4" (only a little bigger than his older brother who was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19-1/2" in February 2008) and it was love at first sight. It sounds so cliche, but I never thought that I could love another baby without changing how I feel about Cayleb. Even in just the short time we've been home, we're noticing distinct differences between the personalities of the boys. Aside from the fact that Cayleb has blonde hair and blue eyes while Ayden has his daddy's dark hair and his eyes have already darkened to an incredible shade of gray, Ayden is much more temperamental than Cayleb was. When Cayleb was a newborn he didn't care at all what was going on around him - he didn't scream for anything; Ayden though hates being even the slightest bit wet and when he wants his food, he wants it 5 minutes ago. They're both snuggle-bugs though and I wouldn't change them for the world.
Just before Ayden was born, Jon and I decided to give cloth diapering a try. I ordered 2 Flip covers, a couple gDiapers, and bought a MESS of prefolds from a mama on craigslist who was moving overseas and didn't want to bother taking her stash, and I dove right in. I quickly realized that while my stash was adequate, I wanted more. I ordered some smaller gDiapers for the new baby, and bought a couple BG AIOs and tried to stay off of all the cloth diapering websites so I wouldn't be tempted to buy anymore until after Ayden arrived. That brings us to now. Yesterday I got my order of 4 GroVia AIOs (2 Ice and 2 Vanilla - 1 of each color for each boy) and I'm so excited. I've been working with my mom and her ancient (ok, maybe not "ancient" but definitely OLD) sewing machine trying to figure out how to make my own diapers. I have several patterns and some great ideas for fabrics I want to use, I just have to find time to actually MAKE one. We'll see if I ever get around to it.... Wish me luck!
